About me
My name is Joshua, and I’m a vegan, weightlifting quilter in North Carolina. I’ve been quilting since 2020, though I first dabbled in sewing as a young boy, making small quilts and garments for my plushies. I really have no business calling them garments—they were dreadful, but they had heart.
Today, I’m a modern and art quilter drawn to color, shape, and story. Most of my inspiration isn’t found on Earth—it often begins with a spark from the cosmos: stars, planets, and the awe of space. From there, my ideas evolve into fabric constellations stitched from digital sketches, often identifiable or conceptually designed from an image.
Exploring a variety of piecing techniques—from gentle curves to traditional blocks—keeps my imagination in motion. My quilts often blend structure with a touch of spontaneity, symmetry, and the occasional surprise. My earlier work followed others’ patterns or classic blocks, but I soon found myself eager to bring my own imaginings to life in cotton.
Quilting, for me, is a deep conversation. It’s how I honor the people and moments that shape me, how I navigate both grief and joy, and how I make space for those feelings and stories. Whether I’m sketching a new pattern inspired by a telescope image or sewing under the hum of my machine late at night, I’m reminded that creativity—like starlight—travels farther than we ever imagine.
At home, my spouse and I have been graciously permitted to share space with our beloved cat, Pumpkin. I have a background in television and cinema, a career in communications, and I’m a certified librarian. When I’m not quilting, at the gym, or cooking a plant-based meal, you’ll often find me writing, reading, researching family history, or wandering through the mountains of western North Carolina.
Welcome to my quiltiverse. I’m glad you’re here.
