Workshops and Talks

I came to quilting through inheritance. My mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother were all quilters before me. What I’ve learned since then, about design, about construction, about what it means to sit with fabric and let something take shape, feels too good not to share.

These offerings are new and my way of bridging the universe I’ve been crafting and creating with you. Whether you leave with a new technique, a new way of seeing your own creative work, made a connection, or simply discovered how to place practice into something you’ve been carrying, that’s enough. Moving someone by even one degree is my goal.

I’d love to bring this spirit to your guild, quilt show, or event.

Your Universe of Inspiration

A Curve Piecing Workshop to Build Your World

A finished block shows a retro style curve pieced block. A horizon view of a half circle made of improvisational piecing lays at the bottom. In the corner left is a quarter sun imitating a sun and on the right is a small four point star in ice blue.

Learn curve piecing while creating a unique world of your own with fabrics based on how they represent you, or how they make you feel.

Quilters will learn an approachable and creative practice on curve piecing on their sewing machine, bringing into the universe a world of their own. This is not just a technique class; it’s a personal cosmos built one curve at a time.

Explore three thematic curvy blocks, each building deliberately on the last: a single curve for ease, a pieced planet for a touch of a challenge, and a small four-point star for a technical flex. The final piece is a work of art, ready to become a pillow or a wall hanging at home.

Details:

  • Four hours

  • Confident beginner to intermediate skill

  • 8-25 students

Students will make:

  • Three unique blocks, beginning from simplicity to intermediate skill

  • 1 final block ready to be a pillow or wall hanging

PDF templates shared in advance and cut before class. We will cut into fabric during the class.

At smaller in-person workshops, some pre-made paper templates and custom acrylic templates may be provided.

A Voyage into the Quiltiverse

A trunk show talk

1 hour
(40 minute talk and 20 minute Q&A)

All quilting levels

This talk is one I really am passionate about: bringing you aboard the voyage into the quiltiverse. We will embark on the journey that shaped my designs. From the first moment the cosmos became a creative voice, through star systems and nebulas and the natural forms of Earth who make cameos, to A Trip Around the Universe, the piece where everything I’d been reaching for finally landed.

Beyond the gallery of my work being the focus of this trunk show, you’ll hear what influences and ideas guide the cosmic representation my quilts are made by. You’ll leave with a sense of how a personal point of view takes shape over time and how you could explore an untapped part of nature for inspiration.
